Health Weight Strategy
|
Nottingham City has developed a single overarching framework for action so that children, families and adults can achieve a healthy weight. This strategy describes our partnership plans to promote healthy weight and tackle unprecedented levels of obesity.
The evidence is very clear. Significant action to prevent obesity at a population level that targets elements of the 'obesity promoting' environment as well as improving nutrition and physical activity in individuals is required. This strategy brings together, coordinates and focuses the contributions of all partner organisations. By aligning our efforts we will increase the number and proportion of children and adults who are a healthy weight.

Learning Disability Health Needs Assessment
|
People with learning disabilities are one of the most vulnerable groups in society. They are known to experience inequalities in health and as a result suffer poorer health outcomes compared to the general population.
There is now an increasing national and international body of evidence as to the pattern of health needs of people with learning disabilities. However, no detailed assessment of the health needs of people with learning disabilities that live within Nottingham and Nottinghamshire has been undertaken previously. A Health Needs Assessment was therefore undertaken to capture this information. |

Asylum Seeker and Refugee Health Needs Assesment
|
Asylum seekers are a heterogeneous group, originating from many countries across the world. Common to them all is the process of fleeing persecution, establishing life in a new country and going through the complex legal system of claiming asylum. National literature recognises that asylum seekers experience barriers to accessing healthcare due to language, difficulty registering with general practitioners and changing entitlements to healthcare services. They commonly have low rates of chronic conditions such as hypertension and diabetes, but experience higher burdens of communicable diseases and mental health problems. |

HMP Nottingham Health Needs Assessment
|
A Health Needs Assessment (HNA) of the prison population at HMP Nottingham, which was carried out in 2009. The prison population has different health needs to the general public. They are likely to have poorer physical, mental and social health than the general public and suffer from conditions associated with offending, such as substance misuse. In Nottingham, the Joint Strategic Needs Assessment highlighted key issues around healthcare provision for prisoners, including a lack of knowledge around this population's health care needs. HMP Nottingham is a busy local prison with a high turnover and it is estimated that around 4500 prisoners access healthcare services at HMP Nottingham each year. HMP Nottingham is currently undergoing expansion, which will see the prison's operational capacity increase from 550 prisoners to 1059. This will increase the demand on Healthcare services at HMP Nottingham and may create new health needs. In view of the prison expansion, the lack of solid information on health of prisoners in HMP Nottingham, national policy around health care provision within prisons and the gaps highlighted in the JSNA this Health Needs Assessment was undertaken. |

Development Strategy for Child and Adolescent Mental Health 2006-09 (Greater Nottingham)
|
The Greater Nottingham Child and Adolescent Mental Health Strategy (CAMHS) Partnership was established to provide a forum and pathway for the improvement of services for children and young people with "behaviour, emotional and social difficulties." The partnership enables the effective joint commissioning of CAMHS services as well as some tier 1 preventative services.
The partnership consists of representatives from a wide range of childrens services (see appendix.) Through it current terms of reference the partnership is accountable to the four PCTs and two local authorities responsible for local commissioning. The partnership also works as a subgroup for the Nottingham Childrens Health Network in relation to local NHS modernisation.
The development of integrated childrens services, including new commissioning arrangements in both the City and County local authority areas, will impact on the role, governance and inevitably the form of the partnership. However the contents of this strategy are based on both local analyses of need and national requirements and it is expected that this strategy will continue to inform local priorities irrespective of functional or organisational changes.

Psychosocial Distress & Mental Health Problems Experienced by People Seeking Asylum or with Refugee Status in Nottingham (A Needs Assessment) - An Executive Summary
|
This Needs Assessment was developed in response to concerns expressed by the Forum on Meeting
Mental Health Needs of Asylum Seekers and Refugees. The Forum comprises a range of
representatives from agencies working with asylum seekers and refugees in Nottingham (NHS,
Social Services and the Voluntary Sector) and was established following a conference in
Nottingham in November 2001 Refugees and the Provision of Mental Health Services. Major
concerns of the Forum were, and continue to be, the lack of clarity regarding the psychosocial and
mental health needs of asylum seekers and refugees, the extent to which current services meet these needs and the gaps that continue to exist in service provision. It was felt that a comprehensive Needs Assessment would provide a means of answering these questions and inform service delivery and training requirements.
