Regeneration: Home

Neighbourhood transformation is a key priority for Nottingham City Council and its partners. Nottingham is an economic success but the city includes some of the most deprived areas in the country. Our vision is for every neighbourhood to share in and contribute to the prosperity of the city and for every area to be an attractive place to live in. Our objective is to work in partnership with our residents and other stakeholders to apply best practice in regeneration to turn our vision into a reality that benefits all of our citizens.

Objectives of this site

The objectives of this site are to create a comprehensive and up to date library of documents, information and links, in a single location, in order to make it much easier for our partner agencies to access information relevant to the projects they are involved with. Information on the site is organised based on the structure shown below. To access a list of information and documents relevant to the regeneration theme, click on the area you are interested in:

SRFs

Strategic Regeneration Frameworks (SRFs) will be the foundation of the approach to Neighbourhood Regeneration. They will provide a clear strategic direction for public and private investment and interventions. This will be based on an informed consensus about long-term objectives, priorities and opportunities. All stakeholders will be involved in their development, providing an understanding of the components and sequence of the regeneration process.

The SRFs will show how Nottingham’s most deprived neighbourhoods can share in and contribute to the city’s economic growth by building on existing investment, aligning strategies and services, relating opportunities to strategic goals, and determining where and what radical interventions are needed.

Neighbourhood Plans

Below each of the Strategic Regeneration Frameworks (SRFs), where needed more detailed Neighbourhood Plans will be produced. A Neighbourhood Plan is a more comprehensive holistic regeneration plan for individual areas looking at socio-economic factors, such as employment opportunities, community facilities and education along with the physical such as housing, transport and open space. The plans will act as an implementation tool for delivering the wider regeneration initiatives across the city. The plans will be influenced by partners, key stakeholders and the community

Local Housing Company (New Homes Nottingham)

The 2007 Housing Green Paper introduced Local Housing Companies (LHCs) to encourage Councils to use their land for new housing to speed up the supply and quality of new homes. Nottingham has since been accepted by CLG as one of the first wave pilot Authorities for the new scheme.

It is proposed that the Nottingham LHC will deliver a substantial number of homes over the next ten years and will be one of the toolkit of measures that Nottingham City Council will need to draw on to deliver on its ambition of transforming radically its most deprived neighbourhoods.

Importantly, once established the LHC will be used to deliver elements of the SRFs, as well as key interventions to be incorporated into any future Statutory Area Action Plans and Neighbourhood Plans. This will be particularly important for assisting with regeneration in priority areas and delivering quality schemes with a wider choice of quality and tenure options.
