2011 ONS Mid Year Population Estimates
2011 - ONS Revised Mid Year Population Estimates
The Office for National Statistics have published the mid year population estimates based on the results of the 2011 Census. Population estimates (broken down by age and gender) are available for 2011 for Lower Super Output Areas (based on the Super Output Areas published for the 2011 Census), Ward and District level.
The Mid Year Estimates (by 5 year age bands) have been revised back to 2002 for Nottingham City following publication of the Census 2011 results.
Please click here to view the Revised Population Estimates.
If you are working with data which is population based, it is important that any population denominators are re-calculated to reflect these new figures. Please contact Niki Kirk on 63979 (Policy and Research Team) if you would like any further advice.

Happy Birthday to Nottingham Insight...3 years on...
Happy Birthday to Nottingham Insight...3 years on...
Nottingham Insight was launched back in April 2010 replacing its predecessor Nomad+. So although Nottingham Insight is officially 3 years old this month, Nottingham and its partners have had access to a shared resource base since 2005.
Perhaps time to reflect on where we are several years on……
The vision still stands to make Nottingham Insight the definitive site for resources, data and documentation. We continue to work with partners and strive to engage with as many new and existing users as possible. We now have a wide customer base from the public, private and voluntary sector accessing the site on a regular basis – over 100 unique visits each day.
Recent surveys have highlighted the benefits of having access to a shared resource base.
• “Quick and easy access to corporate and partnership data. One stop location to refer others to.”
• “Disseminating information which our team produces.”
• “It is useful to find out information for residents and to inform our work.”
• “In determining which charges to apply based on geographical location.”
• “Showing maps of population counts and % referrals to service managers as part of service reconfigurations.”
• “In using the statistical information in training to give background info/knowledge around a topic.”
• “Helping to draw up local ERDF programmes.”
The project was originally funded by One Nottingham and Public Health and supported by an Insight network; represented by various stakeholders and partner organisations. Various initiatives and projects have enabled the site to continue. Although the formal network has now disbanded, a more informal network continues to exist.
The site has continued to develop over the years and below are some of the key functions/tools now available on Nottingham Insight:-
• Home to Nottingham City’s Joint Strategic Needs Assessment
• Home to the Sustainability Appraisal documents and profiles
• Access to the Community and Voluntary sector hub
• Easy access to all Government Consultations and responses
• Local Consultations hub (specific to Nottingham City Council)
• Document library (access to 3,000+ documents)
• Data library (providing access to 9000+ national and local datasets)
